Bipasha Basu is an Indian film actress and model who predominantly works in Bollywood. She has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and English language films. She also known by her married name Bipasha Basu Singh Grover. She is one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses in India. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including one Filmfare Award, two Stardust Awards, one Zee Cine Awards and two Global Indian Film Awards.Bipasha Basu was born on 7 January 1979 in New Delhi, India to a Bengali family. She is the daughter of Hirak Basu, a civil engineer and Mamta Basu. She has one elder sister named Bidisha Basu and one younger sister named Vijayeta Basu. She studied at Apeejay High School in Delhi, before coming in Kolkata. In Kolkata, she attended Bhavan's Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir, located in Bidhannagar. Then she enrolled at Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College in commerce section. In 1996, she participated in the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel pageant and won the title.
Bipasha Basu started her career with modeling and won the Godrej Cinthol Supermodel pageant in 1996. She made her film debut in 2001 with the movie Ajnabee opposite Akshay Kumar. The film was a moderate box-office success and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Following the year, she acted in the Telugu action film Takkari Donga, which marked her debut in Telugu cinema. Then she showed her outstanding performance in the supernatural thriller film Raaz (2002), which earned Basu her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination. In 2003, she starred in the erotic thriller film Jism opposite John Abraham. She received a Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role nomination for the film. Bipasha made her Hollywood debut in the historical romance film The Lovers in 2013, directed by Roland Joffé.
Bipasha Basu was in a relationship with actor Dino Morea from 1996 and they broke up in 2002. Then she began to date with actor John Abraham and the relationship broke up in 2011. In February 2014, she makes a relationship with Harman Baweja and they had broken up in December. Bipasha married to co-star Karan Singh Grover on 30 April 2016, after one year relationship.
