Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior is a Brazilian professional footballer. He is commonly known as Neymar Jr. or Neymar. He plays for the Brazil national team and French club Paris Saint-Germain as a forward.Neymar was born on February 5, 1992 in Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo, Brazil to Neymar Santos Sr., a former footballer and Nadine Santos. He has a sister named Rafaella Santos. In 2003, he began playing for youth side Portuguesa Santista in São Vicente, when he was only 11 years old. He then moved to Santos and joined the famous Brazilian club FC Santos. He signed his first senior contract with FC Santos at the age of 17.
Neymar made his professional team debut for Santos FC in 7 March 2009 where he was brought on for the last thirty minutes, in a 2–1 win against Oeste. Over the next four years he became a prolific goal scorer for his team as he helped them to win the Libertadores Cup.
In 2010, he made his international debut for a friendly match against the United States to be played in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The following year he netted twice for Brazil in an unsuccessful Copa America campaign and a year later he scored three goals in the Olympics to win a silver medal for Brazil. Neymar signed for Barcelona in 2013 for a transfer fee of $76 million from Santos FC.
